چکیده

The impact of climate change on soil temperatures at Kuujjuaq, Quebec in northern Canada is assessed. First, long-term historical temperature records (1967–1995) are statistically analyzed to provide a climatological baseline for soils 5 150 cm depths. Next, the nature relationship between atmospheric variables and determined using statistical downscaling model (SDSM) National Centers Environmental Prediction (NCEP), data set. SDSM was found replicate historic well used project remainder century output Canadian Second Generation Earth System Model (CanESM2). Three Representative Concentration Pathway scenarios (RCP 2.6, 4.5 8.5) were from Intergovernmental Panel Climate Change (IPCC) Fifth Assessment Report (AR5). This study that this location may warm 0.9 1.2 °C per decade various Annual all depths projected rise above 0 1997–2026 period scenarios. melting poses hazard airport infrastructure will require adaptation measures.

An inventory of historical mercury emissions in maritime canada: implications for present and future contamination.

Mercury is a longstanding concern in Maritime Canada due to high levels of contamination in a number of fish and bird species. The recycled component of past releases of anthropogenic mercury may be a significant source of ongoing pollution in many areas. Historical information on mercury releases can be used to quantify past and present anthropogenic contamination. We present an inventory of h...

Modelling soil variation: past, present, and future

The soil mantles the land, except where there is bare rock or ice, and it varies more or less continuously. Many of its properties change continuously in time, too. We can measure the soil at only a finite number of places and times on small supports, and any statement concerning the soil at other places or times involves prediction. Variation in soil is also complex, so complex that no descrip...

A Historical Perspective on Aviation Accident Investigation

When the editor suggested that we write a piece for this 50 edition of the newsletter, it seemed appropriate to reflect on the longer term history of our field and, in particular, to focus on the topic of accident investigation which has been the focus of our previous work. In early 1928, the Assistant Secretaries for Aeronautics in the Departments of War, Navy, and Commerce in the United State...

Health system organization and governance in Canada and australia: a comparison of historical developments, recent policy changes and future implications.

The Canadian and Australian health systems have evolved in very similar ways. Recent policy changes in each country, however, suggest a growing divergence with respect to governance. This paper traces the origins and key milestones in the evolution of governance models, with a selective focus on two provinces in Canada (Saskatchewan and Alberta) and the state of New South Wales in Australia. Wh...

On Modelling and Analysing Concurrent Systems

In order to verify program correctness one needs an appropriate programming language, a specification of the program correctness, and some methods to prove the program correct. We examine two of these aspects: a language for writing a particular kind of concurrent programs, that is modelling concurrent systems, and methods to prove certain correctness properties of concurrent programs, that is ...
